Don't Hire An Expensive Contractor! Use These Home Improvement Tips Instead!

Repairs by C-Towner

In my world of automotive repair I talk a lot about Automotive Technician Certification or ASE Certification.

Since I bought our shop I've been making a stir in our local area and some don't understand exactly how it can affect them. So I'm here to explain exactly that and hopefully you will be able to take this knowledge and pass it on to YOUR friends and family as well as protect yourself next time you have your vehicles repaired or serviced...NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AT OR WHERE YOU GO.......

What I've been stressing is simply this....your hairdresser, doctor, dentist, groomer for your pets, etc....have to have a LICENSE/CERTIFICATION to do

their jobs. They have to pass a series of tests to cut your hair or see you, and they are held by strict standards set by the state, etc.

But, YOUR MECHANIC DOES NOT have to have a license to work on your vehicle - plain and simple - and THIS is what the Auto Repair Industry has hidden from the consumer FOR YEARS and they don't want you to know.

Everyone from the dealerships to independent shops have MANY within those shops that have NEVER been trained to do the job they are doing.

More often then not many have gained their experience working on their own vehicles or friends vehicles from their garages....but are now gaining MORE experience on YOUR vehicle. (Kind of "On The Job Training!")

How do repair shops and dealerships get away with this - it's fairly simple. I have driven all over the country and have seen many shops - (especially the ones that love to advertise the $13.00 oil changes) with ASE Certification in their windows.

While you are there they tell you ALL kinds of things THEY THINK are wrong with your car. MOST of those people aren't even trained TO KNOW what to look for, nonetheless tell you it needs fixing. How can they get

away with ASE advertising?

Here is How:

ASE has STRICT Testing you must take to be considered certified. But there is a glitch...they have a total of 8 different tests.

1.Engine Repair

2.Automatic Transmission/Trans Axel

3.Manual Drive train/Axel

4.Suspension & Steering

5.Brakes

6.Electrical/Electronic Systems

7.Heating & Air Conditioning

8.Engine Performance

All that one shop has to do is have ONE of his technicians pass ONE test to advertise as being ASE CERTIFIED! After that one test is passed ASE allows you to advertise assuming your being honest about what you can and cannot do as far as repairs are concerned!

Where is the danger? Well if that ONE tech could only pass ONE test - lets say for Brakes - the shop is advertising ASE and tells you that you need a new transmission - how would they know what they were talking about? They are only certified for brakes!

What happens is that most consumers see the ASE Certification in the windows of shops or on their yellow book advertising and think that everyone within the building is certified to work on your vehicle - that couldn't be further from the truth. (Also is the certification CURRENT?)

At one time when my husband was working at a local shop before we opened our business - he was the ONLY ONE within the shop that was certified!

Not the owner, manager, and NONE of the techs held a certificate. The techs had only gotten their experience from working on cars at their own houses! My husband ended up showing these goofballs on a daily basis how to fix the cars and do you think they cared or appreciated it? Heck no - they were still making their money off you with no thoughts as to what may or may not happen to you after you left.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say - well then I'll just sue them if something goes wrong with my repair or turn them into the BBB or Bureau of Automotive Repair - aka BAR.

First off - that's fine as long as your okay to do that after getting on the freeway at 75+mph and having your car fail. Second - most suits don't even get to a settlement because YOU signed Okaying the repair and they count on that.

AND the shop HAD the certificate hanging on the wall clearly showing you that only ONE of their techs were certified and that was for ONLY brakes and since there is no standard that they HAVE TO FOLLOW then it falls back into your lap.

The next thing I love to see that makes me laugh and feel bad for those that don't know is when I go into lets say the dealership or chain repair store. They LOVE to have all kinds of certificates hanging on the walls - but notice they aren't ASE...they say "store" trained - well that's nice. Most of those places don't just sell that ONE make and model of a vehicle - and how many times have you purchased an extended warranty? Or the chain store....they say that THEY trained them....okay and who knows what they are doing? (They Who?!)

Why am I so passionate about ASE - it is because those tests are across the board for EVERY make and model of a car. Now lets think about that for a minute. How many makes and models of cars are there out there?

THOUSANDS.

That's why MANY cannot PASS MOST of those tests -they are HARD. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HARD! Brakes are one of the easiest because brakes can be pretty standard.....sometimes. But transmissions, engine repair - etc. ??? That my friend is a whole different story.

If you are in the chain store or dealership look for the ASE certificates and LOOK for what they are REALLY trained for - I think you'll be surprised.

(Did you know?.....Dealerships Techs ONLY get training when the Dealership is willing to pay additionally for training - SURPRISE!)

The other way they get away with it? How often do you know that the person actually working on your vehicle is trained? Do you get to meet him? Talk to him? Nope. You just assume that EVERYONE back there is trained and all is well. Can you ask for someone trained to be working on your vehicle - sure you can ask - but you don't really know for sure -because if everyone asked, nothing would get done!

Most times there isn't anyone that's actually qualified to do the job or they don't have enough people trained at all......

Another reason many don't care if they employ certified ASE mechanics is because they are EXPENSIVE. Testing is expensive for the technician if they have to pay for it themselves and they are expensive for the shops. A guy that's trained means having to pay MORE money to hire and keep him on staff.

To keep up with industry standards with machinery, training, etc is VERY COSTLY - I know. But YOU don't know if they have the latest equipment or not - or if they have trained people on staff AND no one is checking to make sure....it's always kind of been left up to YOU.

Unfortunately the ONLY time you find out these harsh facts is when something does go wrong and by that time it's too late. You're out either a vehicle or lots of money on a repair that NEVER fixed what you

brought it in for.

I don't know about you but I think that's PRETTY SCARY!

You can check out any time the ASE standards and see for yourself how many repair shops have gotten around a great organization to make it appear like they are apart of something great when they really aren't - not to the degree that YOU think they are.

Ask to see their certificates - make sure they are current and not expired.

To have a "Master Technician" in any shop is rare. What is a Master Technician? That is someone who not only took the tests listed but passed them ALL...not just one.

Again, ONE MASTER technician in ANY shop is rare not to mention ANYONE who has adequate training. How about the owner being trained - again most aren't but they are running the business ...... odd don't you think that THEY don't know about the very thing they say they specialize in?

So now you know and it is up to all of us to hold these unethical shops accountable.

Together - we can all put a stop to unethical repairs and shops out there that don't care about you or your SAFETY.

One more story before I let you go:

True story by the way......

An elderly woman on limited income went in to get a transmission flush at a local shop where we live. They took the pan down threw some metal shavings into it - went out into the waiting room and told her she needed a new transmission. She just now went from a $69.95 job to a $1700.00 job. They cleaned up the bottom of the pan - cleaned off the transmission - sprayed a little spray paint on it to make it look new - did the flush ONLY and a few days later gave her car back. Same old transmission - and made close to $1730.00 profit.

She had originally come in with the great little "coupons" you get in the fliers every week in the mail for a transmission flush special....aka (bait) and she

was taken advantage of hook, line and sinker.

This is why I do what I do now - I advertise that they don't have ASE Certificates - I advertise how they get away with it if they do and I tell anyone who will listen what I've seen and how to avoid the pain of being taken advantage of in the auto repair world.

Be safe out there!

Building Your Business Up With Internet Marketing

marketing by nardell

Internet marketing can dramatically benefit your business. There is no way past this. Especially when you are starting a small business, how you approach Internet marketing may be the single biggest factor in whether or not you succeed. Find your way to Internet marketing success with the ideas in the article below.

Make a plan for how you will market your webpage and the strategies you will use. A good way to advertise your page is to give something away, tell people about it in blogs, or put ads out at businesses. You can encourage visitors to your site in many different ways. Just be creative, and work hard.

buy propecia Stay abreast of what your competition is doing. If you don't realize what your competition is doing, you can easily fall behind in the market. Check out their websites and their products and see what tactics they're using. You can also get a good estimate of how many visitors they have, which allows you to gauge how your site is doing.

Do you offer a reward system for people who regularly buy your products? Customer retention is particularly important in online businesses, and the way you reward customer loyalty will contribute greatly to your reputation. Also, the more generous you are with customers, the more customers will speak highly of your business to their friends.

Consider that the appearance of your business website is as vital to your business as a brick and mortar store's appearance is. Testing your links, images, ads and checkout process for errors can avoid upsetting visitors. Customers will not visit a business if it is not a well run establishment, the same goes for online sites.

Make sure that you stay on top of all of the newest Internet developments. By keeping up with the newest trends on the Internet, you increase your chances of giving the public what it really wants.

Try having events and promotions for your site. Try offering discounted e-books for a couple days. When people enter your site to purchase the e-book, they'll probably look around at what else you offer. Often times your visitors will buy more than one thing if it is visable.

Use image searches to market online, even though this is a lesser-used method of marketing. When you add relevant pictures to your site, you will be able to get visitors who are searching for the photos you provide. People who are searching for other things might wind up at your site because they were searching for a particular image. This will help get you more traffic and more business.

promoting the stock Customers need to feel confident that they can order from your website without having to worry about security. People are wary of sending personal information over the Internet, so make sure you ease these fears by letting customers know that their information is secure.

There are a lot of different strategies to use in order to market products online, and paying for ad space on various websites is one with a good track record of proven results. Google's AdSense is just one of the different companies that sells this sort of ad space. It is a reasonably priced, easily done form of marketing that produces great results.

After reading the article you now know which Internet marketing direction is the most profitable for you. Having this advice will help you start making your hard work bring in some cash

Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO) - How To Retire Rich From Investing In Penny Stocks? - Penny Stocks To Buy 2012

It may well sound a little outrageous, on the other hand with the newly uncovered popularity of penny stock investing; some typical people have been able to pocket serious income on just one or two trades - acquiring stocks for pennies and selling them for real dollars.

Seems like a piece of fiction or the inner workings of a fantasy stock trading game, but don't think for a instant that it's not occurring virtually daily. There have been tons of corporations whose stock price had dropped to literally pennies per share and in some cases fractions of a penny per share, which happen to have made very sharp and explosive rises to levels that are 2, 3 or (seriously) 10 or 20 times that price - literally in days.

Don't believe me? For confirmation, Take a brief second to research a few of these stocks your self, for instance Sunpeaks Ventures, Inc.. (SNPK). Try typing the ticker symbol into virtually any financial site, and look at a historic chart for say four months or so; you'll notice right off that this company's stock was merely $.43 or 43 cents a share around mid March, and reached as high as .40 just weeks later. It wouldn't take a lot of mathematics to discover that just 0 could have changed into just about 00 in just a matter of weeks. For this very factor people are generally able to leave their day jobs to trade 1 or 2 penny stocks a month, at the same time having the capacity to pay all their bills and live in a relaxed manner.

With just a little research and a little bit of keeping your ear to the ground, you can realize decent gains in penny stocks; and it doesn't take the long-term investing that you ordinarily have to be prepared for when you invest in your typical blue chip stocks. The big stock investors can get a %5 rise in a week's time ( This is a excellent week for them), but if you've only got 0 to invest - making in a week is probably not cause to jump up and down... best you can do with that kind of gain is go to a movie... by yourself!

Like with any investment, even penny stock investing has risks, but think of this: when you can invest $500 in a penny stock and likely turn that small investment into thousands within weeks (and I don't mean 52 weeks) - the risk/reward ratio weighs hugely in your benefit. On the contrary, you could invest in nice "safe" blue chip companies and possibly see a gain of a couple hundred bucks a year.. that's if you don't invest in top of the line blue chips like Tyco, Enron or Adelphia...lol.

Right now, we're paying close attention to Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO). This stock has gone from being pretty much dormant to trading over a million shares last Thursday. The price was pretty consistent all day Thursday, even with the heavy trading (staying at $.10 per share), but then on Friday -things started to change ( the stock closed at $.135 - a 35% gain in One day). As of this publishing, the stock is continuing to climb today (7/23/12) climbing to just under $.15 per share. What to take serious notice of with this company is it's fundamentals; a good team, good product mix and revenue!

Home Appliance Repair Tips That Will Help You Get The Ball Rolling

Appliance Repair Experts - 5 by Appliance Repair Experts

I remember my Grandmother's refrigerator, Antique, working, full of style, but the color, was this hideous pea green. Now I have my antique refrigerator that flows with the theme and matches the colors used in my kitchen! Follow these steps to paint that unsightly appliance into a savvy statement of decorum!Nearly every home has one, a kitchen utensil that sticks out like a sore thumb, well not in today's do it yourself world, here's everything you need to make that appliance match in just a few simple steps. The best part is, you can do it at a fraction of the cost of buying a new appliance!

1.Take note on it's condition.
Does it have dents? Scratches? Rust? These are some of the things you will need to know before you go to the local home improvement store. Are you just touching it up or are you painting the entire thing? Some scratches can be removed with some light sanding of the surface- don't over-sand, you don't want to chip excess paint around the scratch.

2. The Purchase
You'll want to fill in dents and deep scratches and stop or prevent rust before you apply any new paint to the surface of the object.
Choose your color and purchase your acrylic paint from your local stores or order them on-line, please be sure to order enough to cover the entire area, it's always better to have a little extra than not enough. If this appliance is a conductor of heat, be sure to read the labels carefully and purchase a product that has some heat resistance.

2a- for scratches and dent touch ups only, a small can of paint and a brush is recommended.

2b- in larger projects,( the entire appliance) spray is both quicker and easier to handle.

3. Clean your surfaces completely and allow to dry.
Remove any foreign objects from the appliance that could have built up: dust, smoke, grease etc, then let dry. A light cleanser and scouring pad will work great.

4. Fill, sand, or treat any discrepancies using the proper fillers, fine grit sandpapers or rust prevention products. Use these products according to their directions labeled by the manufacturer. Wipe clean with a light detergent and water.

5. Cover, tape, or remove the parts of the appliance that will not be painted.

6. Place or make sure that your appliance is in a clean, dust-free, well ventilated area.

7. Reading the label directions and following carefully, paint the appliance. Allow to dry completely before placing on the second coat. (If additional coating is necessary, allow coats of paint to dry between applications.) You may choose to use a clear glossy coat to put over the paint for extra protection and a sleek look.

Now that you've finished, you're proud of your work and the new look of your flashy new equipment, invite some friends or family over to show it off or spread the word and give someone else these steps so that they may achieve their home beauty as well!

Treat Your Home Right With These Home Appliance Repair Tips

Appliance Repair Gilbert by aabcosvc

What's a gal to do when she moves to a new town with her 10-year old washing machine, and it conks out on her right as she starts a new job? Learning who is reliable in a new town can be a difficult chore, but here in Abilene, I found a great answer in Don's Appliance Service.

Perhaps banging around in a borrowed farm trailer for six hours on the move from Brenham to Abilene had something to do with it, or perhaps the key factor was reaching its tenth birthday, but, at any rate, my washing machine did not work recently, right after I had filled my black Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care with a load of darks and hit "No" (I have had to hit "No" after "Start" to make the built-in computer bypass the detergent dispenser ever since some type of computer glitch struck six years ago; finding that bypass spared me from having to replace the entire motherboard). The machine filled as usual, but the moment agitation began, Holy Moly! It made a hideous grinding noise, as if it were chewing on rocks. I turned it off pronto.

I decided that a repair service was in order. My husband agreed. Since the machine is a Kenmore, we started with Sears. After waiting about four minutes on hold, I took the pre-recorded voice's suggestion to check out the Sears website. To do this, I had to register with the site. Once in, I learned that there would be a minimum $65 service fee. I worried that they might get here, find the problem, and have to make a second trip with the proper parts. Further, although I could schedule the date online, I had no control over the time of day. This was a serious problem for me, since I had just started a new job and could not take time off. Disenchanted, I decided to do further research.

I first called West Texas Appliance Parts and Service. Their fee for a service call was less ($58.95), and the hourly rate was $60. The person on the phone warned me that if the repairman needed to return with parts, there would be a minimum cost of $30 in labor for the second trip. I decided to check on some others.

The next number I called was for a service no longer in business. I had an informative dialog with the former business owner, Joe, and he referred me to Don's Appliance Service. Don was on another job, but he called me back within ten minutes. His estimate was much less, and he came over immediately. He found that the problem was the drive coupling, as he had suspected from our conversation. He offered me a choice of a $12.95 part or a heavy-duty one costing about twenty-five bucks. Curious, I asked him which was more appropriate. He asked me if I had ever had trouble with the machine before. When I told him no, he explained, "Well, you see, some folks constantly overload their machines with comforters, or too many towels and jeans at once, and after they've broken the coupling several times, I offer them the heavy-duty one. Too heavy a load will still break the coupler, but it takes longer." I was impressed by his honesty with me.

The repair was done in a flash, it was successful, and my total bill for parts, labor, and tax was $78.97. (Joe had predicted $125.) Don charged me $60 for the service call, but he listened to me on the phone first, and made only one trip. I do not know what the other companies would have charged for the part, but I could have started with $90 in labor for two trips due to not having the proper part (though, to be fair, the necessary part was so common that they would most likely have had it with them). What I really liked was that Don was there on the very same day that I called, within an hour. I did not have to make any arrangements with someone else to be there, nor ask for any time off. I was very pleased to make the acquaintance of Mr. Don Warren.

A caveat, though: he doesn't work on the computer parts. Avowing that a washing machine needs no more than three buttons, he prefers old-fashioned models, not the computerized plethora of cycles and controls afforded by computerized models. So if the problem could be with the motherboard, you should call someone else. But when you know you have a purely mechanical problem or a simple electrical one (like replacing the electrical harness or a lid switch), Don's your man. As an added bonus, Don claims to be the only repairman left in Abilene who still rebuilds motors. In some cases, rebuilding a motor might cost a customer far less than buying a new one--and on an older model it might not be worth replacing the motor with a new one, anyway.

Don's Appliance Service is located at 2234 Poplar in Abilene. His number is 325-675-8421. Don also repairs dryers and and other appliances.

Better Results For Your SiteThrough Search Engine Optimization

SEO Service by GianinaSEO

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION IS IMPERATIVE FOR A WEB BUSINESS TO SUCCEED
If an online business these days really wants to increase their overall profit margin, then they usually HAVE to have at least a top twenty page ranking in Google to get a few hundred new customers coming to their site every week. The best way to get to that goal is to optimize their web pages for the search engines to see that they have the best relevant content devoted to their specific market or industry.

This article will not discuss "black hat" SEO techniques or any search engine optimization dirty tricks. I will only be discussing truly professional methods that legitimate SEO companies use every day to get their clients that huge push to the top ten or twenty rankings in Google specifically.

GOOGLE SHOULD BE REALISTIC WHEN IT COMES TO THE WAY THE WEB WORKS TODAY
It is a fact today that the way the internet runs when it comes to ranking web pages does not sit well with Google. They don't appreciate the fact that because a site has forty great links to other larger sites, it will have a much better internet rank than one that only has four or five good links in its site. Google also does not like the modifications to sites that increase web page keyword optimization such as changing your title page to reflect a much better keyword target than the one you had previously on your main site page.

Because of the fact that the web was in this state before Google arrived on the scene, Google should just acknowledge that they will never be able to change entirely the way search engines will have to work in the future so they can embrace the present as far as dealing with the real pros who have taken SEO techniques to the level that they are at today.

HOW DO PEOPLE WEB SURF TODAY?
With so many different web sites available to a person searching for "horror movie posters", for example, that web surfer looking for high quality posters in his price range will go to probably the fourth page on Google's "horror movie poster" keyword search index. There is absolutely no way that Google can supply every relevant result for that specific keyword phrase.

The problem is that a poster company called "The Movie Poster Hut" in Kansas City might have the best deal on giving this web surfer exactly what he wants at a great low price, but because of the incompetence or lack of knowledge by the web designer of the "Movie Poster Hut" to put in relevant keywords in the main title page of that poster site, it ranks 1200th in Google's "horror movie poster" pages, and this web surfer will never see it.

But if a professional SEO company got involved in optimizing all of the movie poster company's web pages, that web surfer would be a very happy man who just got a better deal on his movie poster than he ever thought possible. Why on Earth would Google have a problem with that?

WHAT EXACTLY IS GOOGLE'S PROBLEM WHEN IT COMES TO SEO TECHNIQUES?
What Google would love to see is a world wide web that is only indexed by their search engine which will no longer see higher page rankings due to link exchanges and keyword optimization techniques. In Google's strict submission guidelines, they actually embrace some non-SEO tasks as being ethical, but never include normal SEO techniques like SEO-copywriting as being anything you should include in your web pages upon submitting your pages to Google.

This attitude of hostility against SEO companies and techniques that Google currently has needs to change. The sole job that Google is to generate to their web visitors the most relevant online businesses and blog sites that come up on their pages when a specific keyword is typed into their search bar. The legitimate SEO companies are doing their best to get their qualified business clients in the top twenty rankings using ethical SEO techniques.

Google should be intertwined with SEO professionals and SEO companies instead of being at odds with them. That is the only way that the internet will be able to grow and flourish in the coming years.

Search engine optimization aims to ultimately achieve the goal of having more visitors to a website by helping it get higher rankings in the search engines. This simply implies that internet search engine optimization's goal is to make a website appear on the first pages, if not the initial page of a search done through the internet search engine.

You can find two methods to be able to get noticed by search engines. One is through pay-per-click-advertisements. A good example of a pay-per-click system that's employed by search engines is the Google Adwords system. It has established a hype and has given Google around 5 billion dollars with regards to revenue per year. Webmasters can place their bids to be shown whenever a keyword is searched by a surfer. The highest bidders will get their web sites to seem first when the search will be done. The next way of getting high rankings from search engines is through organic searches. Search-engines evaluate web sites by using what they call “ spiders. ” These programs scan the websites and collects details about them. Then they collate the data and pass it about the search engine. This area is primarily the main arena of search engine optimization. It utilizes a set of solutions to be able to get search engines to list the website on high ranks.

The key purpose of search engine marketing is always to increase the traffic generated with a web site. Websites are made to be seen by Internet surfers and se's will help it accomplish this goal.

The power of the
national positions
really should not be underestimated. It is one of the blocks of the foundation of the Internet. A survey showed that 90% of most Online users employ search engines to aid them inside their Internet-related activities. Google, the dominant player in the s.e. industry, generates 70% of all search-related Internet activity.
